What can I do to make my 2 year old Sheltie dog stop peeing on everything2007-11-25 2:50:44

He's a 2 year old Sheltie. I've had him since he was about 5 months, and we thought we had him rid of this problem. But recently, he's started going on everything. The chairs, the couch, the kitchen stove. I can't think of anything that would have made him start doing this again, unless he's suddenly become territorial because of our cat. But we've had the cat almost as long as we've had him.

What could have made him suddenly start doing this again, and what can I do to make him stop?

its spring! if he is not fixed he wants a girlfriend. get him neutered. and clean every thing with vinegar and water. it will rid the pee smell and dogs and cats hate the vingear smell and most likely will not remark. but get him fixed...it helps. and he'll be healthier for it.

Have there been new changes in his/your environment that he might be upset with? (Urinating on everything is often a way to let you know he is unhappy or to alert you of a medical problem.)

Maybe you should take him to a vet to rule out a medical problem.

hmm . mayb u could tie a rubber band to stop him frm peeing . or let him wear doggie-diapers .

he could have a urinary infection, take him to the vet, if its out of charecter the dog could have a infection

Take him to your vet, it might not be a behavioral problem but something like a urinary tract infection. If he hasn't been neutered, then that might be the problem.

my girlfriend has a 2 year old sheltie and its always peeing. most of the time its when i pet her. ill comeover and her sheltie (minnie) will come running up to me and ill rub her head, all of a sudden shell squat and pee and walk away. its almost like i cant pet her. she even pees when i yell her name. she gets way too excited! lol. she needs that medication for overactive bladders or something. lmao. my g/f has a cat too thats a boy but that wouldnt mean anything. so i dont know what to tell you. does he get super excited all the time? that might be it! just get ALOT of newspaper lol

If he's not neutered, then neutering him would go a long way towards stopping this. You also have to make sure you use an enzyme cleaner to get all trace of the smell out because if he can smell where he's peed, he'll keep on going there.
