What can I give my teething puppy in pain2007-11-25 2:50:47

My puppy is, and has been, teething for a bit now, but currently he's in quite a bit of pain because some new teeth are coming in. What can I give him to help with the pain?

check the pet store for toys specifically for teething puppies...you can also try sticking a nylabone or a greenie in the freezer for a while and then give it to him...

Yes, a frozen dish towel works as a great chew toy. You can give your dog childrens asprin. (NOT TYLENOL OR ADVIL)

Get some dog food and put a few pieces in an ice cube tray - fill with warm water and let them freeze up.

It will be a taste treat and at the same time will be great on his gums. Chewing on the treat ice helps puppies wonders when they are teething.

Rope toys are also good for relieving pressure.

take a wash cloth, get it damp, ring it out, the twist it and throw it in the freezer. Then let the puppy chew on it. If your puppy is a big puppy, maybe use a bigger cloth. Watch him while playing with this cheep chew toy. Make sure he doesn't rip pieces off or swallow it. the cold will help numb his gums.

Hello .anbesol or childrens anbesol or ora gel works & rawhide chews too...tho I think you may be feeing the pain more then the dog..as all dogs grow thru this just fine, it's nothing like adults getting say wisdom teeth ..Take Care :)

is this a small breed? none of my dogs has ever appeared to be in any pain or discomfort from teething..
