What can i give my dog
about the parvo thing thats what we thought it was i dont get paid until 9 days i called a vet but they wont look at her unless i pay its the only one open and im sure she will die tonight anything i could give her until tomorrow when i can call another vet
Answers:I would keep looking for another clinic open or try to find the money from someone if it really is parvo. How old is the dog? parvo typically is only an issue with younger dogs. Even with treatment parvo is hit and miss at best and the only hope is to keep them hydrated and supply IV antibiotics, anti-emetics, and so forth.
Nothing you have at home will really help you in this case. Fluids needs to be given either subcutaneously or IV which you can't do, any attempt to give it oral fluids will result in emesis (vomiting) furthering the dehydration.
Any other puppies in the house?
If it does turn out to be parvo (the test only takes 9 minutes and cost about 25-30) don't bring any new puppies into the house for at least six months.
good luck
We need more info like what are the symptoms, how big a dog, how old? Did you explain to the vet that your dog appears to be seriously ill and you have the capacity to pay at a later time?
Look in Google for the nearest ASPCA to you or Animal Care and Control. They will direct you to someone who will help! Try to squeeze water into her mouth from a washcloth and keep her alert. Have a friend help you and PICK UP THE PHONE!
parvo involves yellowish liquid stool and vomiting and legarthy. if she has it, she will probably not make it, but keep her hydrated even if you have to force water into her, and get nutrical to rub on her gums for calories, or caro syrup if you have to. keep her warm too. if she's a fighter, she might make it, but not if you can't get her to a vet for nine days.
PARVO IS SERIOUS..Really and i am sorry to say this but if she is young she has a bad chance.all you can do is to keep her well hydrated and to keep an eye on the color off her gums be sure they are pink. I wish there was something you could do, i'm sorry!
You cannot treat parvo on your own. Your dog needs medication and fluids. If she is seriously ill, she probably will not drink on her own, and she needs an IV or subcutaneous fluids. You cannot administer these without a trained person there to help you. If you are sure that she is dying, you need to do what you can--wake up every friend or relative that you have and beg for a loan until your check comes in.
