Black & white is the norm... but

spots come in brown(liver), blue(grayish blue) and yellow(orangish)!

Some have more than one color. And some don't have any spots at all (albino)

I would say the tricolor dalmatians are the cutest!

Liver and white. Any other color (like yellow or orange) is a fault and would disqualify a show dog. It would be OK for a pet, but not for breeding or showing.

Also, dogs shouldn't have patches, which are very large colored spots that feel silky to the touch. Dals should have fur that feels slightly rough to the touch, since it's very short and coarse.

Edit: the liver should be liver. Not light brown or reddish or tan or whatever. It should be a dark chocolate brown, close to black but not quite. Black spots on Dals are blue-black.

Black or liver ( reddish brown like freckles ) colored with white ... but they are hyper, need lots of exersize, room to romp & are suseptible to blind & deafness, especially when they are mostly all white ..so a very good reputable breeder or better still Rescue Centers for dalmations are a must ..unfortunately there has been a glut ( too many ) badly bred, then abandoned... thx in part to the Disney movie :(...TC & Peace

The spots can be black, brown (liver), lemon, dark blue, tri colored, brindled, solid white (highly discouraged in show dogs), or sable.

Dalmatians only come in two colours, black and white or liver and white. Any other colour is a major fault and must not be bred from. They also can not be shown in any AKC dog show. Other colours that a Dally may come in are;

Lemon & White

Blue & White

Brindle & White

Tricolour & White

Or you may be able to find a few Dals with no spots at all.
