What do I do about my humping puppy2007-11-25 2:51:15

My 1 yr. old male puppy keeps humping. he humps pillows and this one boy dog, who is a pit bull-lab mix and 5 times bigger than him, since he's a shih-tzu, maltese, cocker spaniel mix. it's really weird and i want him to stop! it's so gross!! btw, he is not neutered.

Neutering possibly would take care of this problem, but I have heard of cases where the dogs still humped after being neutered.

You could try corrective behaviors, the same way you would correct any other canine bad habit.

The only way that he will stop is if you get him fixed. There really isn't any other solution. If you have a PETCO in your area they sometimes have low-cost traveling van spay/neuter services, so you won't have to go to a vet (and it probably will be cheaper than going to a vet too)

This is not necessarily sexual humping but is for dominance. Neutering should lessen it considerably and make life safer for him...I wouldn't want my dogs trying to hump a pit bull mx...
