What do i do if my 5 week old puppy is throwing up the food ive been giving him2007-11-25 2:51:17

i fed him wet food. later we changed to dry puppy food. and then we changed it to replacement milk. i know he's too young to be away from his mom, but what should i do?

He is probably not mature enough to digest wet or dry puppy food, you should have better luck with the replacement milk.

However, if he continues to vomit, get him to an emergency vet!!! You can lose a puppy that age very quickly, so don't take chances.

Stop changing his food!That will hurt a dog's stomach if you changi it to quickly! You should use the dos replacement milk that pet stores sell. If that doesn't work ask a veterinarian.

It sounds to me like you are switching his foods way to fast. You should have put 1/4 cup of the dry food mixed with the wet food, then gradually switched to dry food. It helps the dogs get used to new food, otherwise they get sick because of the fast change. Just make sure you gradually change his food, into the new food.

5 weeks isn't that young to be away from his mom. You can buy a 6 week old puppy from a breeder. By 5 weeks the pup should be eating dry puppy food softened with water. Don't keep changing the pups food or he will get sick! And if for some odd ball reason you have to change his diet..it should be done gradually over a weeks time.

You have been changing his food to often. Stick to the dry food and moisten it with just warm water. Make sure he has clean water to drink too. The poor pups stomach is so upset.
