What do i need to do to make 12 weeks old german shepherds ear stand up
I've had shepherd for years. They won't stand up permanently for a while yet so don't stress. They will go up and down, even when teething or under stress. This dog is still a baby and it's like asking when will my six month old start walking. Relax, do a web search and check out all of the information or go to the library and get a book on Shepherds and their development.

Some pup's ears do not stand up until they are 5/6 months old, I would give it another month to six weeks and see. If at 5 months they still are not erect you can tape them. If they do not stand by 7 months they never will, and you cannot tape them, it won't work.
Your vet can show you how to tape the ears or you can do it on your own... its easier if you have pics... this site is great and its the method we used with our dogs. http://www.leerburg.com/tapingears.htm...
(I highly suggest the micropore 2 inch *or even the 3inch* tape as well its great stuff)
Use the thin white surgical tape (the kind that's paper thin and tears easily). The 3M Micropore tape, 2" wide works well (found at the drug store). I like to use women's hair rollers (some people use tampons holder.) I prefer the foam hair rollers that are sold in K-Mart. Take the plastic out of them and just use the foam. (DONT USE DUCT TAPE OR SIMILAR TAPES!!)
