What do you think2007-11-25 2:52:09

wow. i was just told i was refused my dog because of the area i live in.

she told me if i were to finish school, get a better income, and buy a new house in a new area then she would consider me for the future. I was trying to rescue her from the APL and my family loved her. now we are told they will not give her to us, or any other dog in the future unless i move. is this discrimination?

i have been crying about this since we hung up.

Unfortunately for you adoption agencies are very strict on their requirements. If you didn't meet their criteria it's not discrimination, it's just their rules.

Obviously you as a person passed their tests, but they were worried that the animal might not flourish in that area, or be at some kind of risk.

I'm sorry you were upset, it does seem like a harsh judgment. I personally feel that it was quite hurtful.

I would look for another dog, there are many who would enjoy a non-wealthy but ordinary and loving owner.

I know it's not the one you wanted, but there are dogs who need kind people, regardless of where you live. Look for one in the local papers, or in store bulletin boards.

Good luck, and I hope you find the right one for you.

why dont you just look in the paper for a dog to a free home add
i am a bit confused with your situation, whom is making these accusations? and do u have this cat now?
A lot of adoption places for dogs have very strict guidelines. I admit sometimes too strict!! I do feel sorry for you & your children. Is there a dog pound in your area or near by? If so check there. Their rules aren't like that. Good luck to you!!!
It's their right to refuse an animal to anyone for an reason.Sorry it didn't work out.
they cant do that. that is discrimination. they r basically telling u that u have to be a rich person with a huge mansion to be able to adopt a dog. the only thing that would make u ineligible to adopt that dog is if it doesnt have adequate living space, care, food, water, it doesnt matter where u live. if u have enough money for the dog and u have a suitable home then u should be able to adopt the dog
