What do you think of Yorkies
*NOT allow the puppies home before 12 weeks of age.
*Breed first for health, meaning sound body and size...remember, NO teacups, minis, toys, or any other trendy word!! Weight between 5 and 7 pounds!
*Raise the puppies in the home with TLC, and not outdoors in a kennel, as puppy millers and backyard breeders do.
*Never have more than 2 litters per year per b itch/dog! This is important because Yorkies are small and cannot handle that stress the pregnancy puts them through more than once or twice a year.
*Oh, and they will most definitely sell the puppy with a spay/neuter contract or have the puppy altered before it comes to you. This is to prevent unwanted litters with your dog.
Last but not least, a breeder who shows their dogs and competes in earth dog terrier trials is a BIG PLUS! This means they care enough to show that their dogs conform to the standard in many different areas, and that they enjoy competing their dogs in terrier events, which prove the dog's abilities to do what it was bred to do...a TRUE Yorkie Terrier!!
So if you want a happy, lively, bouncy little companion dog, maybe a Yorkie is for you.
The YTCA website has a wealth of information for you to indulge in, as well as breeder referalls which meet their standards for breeding:

But, after all of this, I have to ask you to consider rescuing. There are literally thousands of needy homeless Yorkies across America and right where you live. Sometimes a rescued purebred or mix makes the most perfect dog ever!
