For instance, if you are planning to be or are already pregnant, most physicians do a titer to determine whether you have antibodies to German Measles. In my case, if I were pregnant, they would do a titer to determine my level of antibodies to an rh positive baby. I don't know that they do titers to anything but antibodies, although frequently the same processes are used for other stuff as well.

It means that they're checking the levels of certain things in the blood--could be antibodies, to see if there's been exposure to a disease. Or it could be drug levels, to see if the proper dosing has been achieved.
Its a blood test to determines you dog immunities to a disease. If you dog has enough immunities to a certain disease then it does not need to be given another shot for the disease.
When you have a vaccine it builds up antibodies. These specific antibodies need a boost every once in a while. They do Titers to check to see the levels of the specific antibodies, if they are getting low they will need another booster vaccine. Hope I helped.
They can test their immune response to the disease.. The vet checks the titres to find out how much their body has built up immunity to the disease. They do have natural immunity to things, and you can test to see how protected your dog is, so that you know if you need to vaccinate, or could wait a year, or even if you ever had to vaccinate again. Some vaccinations are good nearly for a life time regardless of what your vet tells you.. If you check the titer, then you know if your dog is protected.
