genetic problems get worse and more numerous as the breeding continues.

you want a real breeder, get one that imports dogs to mate AND has genetic testing done on their dogs BEFORE they are bred. this enables the gene pool to be slightly wider and its easier to breed dogs without so many problems.

99.9% of breeders dont do this and shouldnt be breeding.

What kind of breeder did he get his mastiff from? A backyard breeder? They're the worst after puppy mills and their dogs can end up with a lot of problems. The problem is that most people don't want to pay the prices of real/serious breeders who guarantee their dogs. You get what you pay for.

Another possible problem is what the dog was fed. Most large breeds end up with hip problems because big name/commercial foods actually speed up the growth of puppies and that is not a good thing to do with any dog but is even worse with large breeds.

Did this dog die recently? Are you aware that there is a major pet food recall going on?

With no details that is about all I can tell you about this Mastiff but where breeders are concerned, stay away from backyard breeders and puppy mill puppies (usually sold in pet stores.)

I have a dog that was given to us from a family of breeding. he is a golden retriver/german shepard mix. he is a beautiful dog. & when we got him my dad asked why they breed dogs & they just said that it was a hobby that they got from their parents. simple as that i guess
