Please contact your local animal welfare group, and ask for their help. It is the last act of love you can do for your pet, and dont let pride get in the way of it. You might also ask at your local vets, and see if they would let you pay it off.

If you can afford to feed the dog, then you can afford to put him to sleep. It does not cost that much. Be humane here and if it is time for him to go, then help him and do not let him suffer any longer. Barrow the money of you have to. It won't cost anymore then a bag of food.

First of all, I am sorry you have to make this choice, I think the longer you have a pet, the harder this is to do. Try to call your area SPCA and Humane Society. I dont remember what my parents did, but we had a sick puppy we had to put down in 2001.

I would call the vet and see what they recomend. See if you can't make a payment arrangement with them. If the vet knows how sick and miserable the dog is they shouldn't turn you away. If the first vet doesn't agree then try another. Someone out there should be willing to help. It's their job. I know that they take an oath after they get out of school saying they will never harm an animal. I think this lays under that oath. Hope I helped and sorry for your situation
