Stuffed Animal.
Bichon, baby.
I have a mini poodle. He is an excellent dog and as long as I keep him groomed, we have no shedding problems and there is no damage to my hardwood floors either.
a stuffed animal. you won't have to train it either!
Seriously though, some breeds that shed minimally are Bischon Frise, Miniature Schnauzer
As far as destruction goes, IF you keep your dogs groomed, nails clipped and tips smoothed, and have quality hard wood floors, they should be fine.
i would say maltese as they do not shed and look like a small polar bear! very loyal as well!
the italian greyhounds are absolutely adorable! However, if you have children they aren't for you! It's kind of like a long legged chiuahua! They are precious, and don't loose hair! The only problem with them , as I said before, you don't want it if you have children, their legs are fragile because their bones are so small, and children generally play a little rough!! Just think of a greyhound that's like 3lbs! PRECIOUS!
You would be very happy with a miniature poodle. I have 2 neutered males that were rescues from a puppy mill. Call your local humane society and ask if they know anyone who rescues puppy mill dogs or if they ever get any in. Poodles do not shed. They are the only small dog I know of who truly does not shed. They are smart, loyal and so happy to be with YOU!
All dogs to some degree will shed but one that hardly sheds at all is the Chinese Crested-the naked kind with just small tufts of hair on the head feet and tail. As far as not ruining the floors you can prevent that by making sure the nails are kept cut back to just above the toe pad.
Bichon will not shed but any dog can scratch on your hardwood floor. It depends on how well you work with your dog. If you get a dog be sure you have time to walk it EVERY day and put aside money to take it to a vet in case of an emergency. If you must, keep the dog in a kennel while you are out- from the very beginning and the dog will have no problems being in the kennel for short periods if it is used to it. Good luck.
Everything sheds that has hair, so maybe a freeze dried dog? It's your responsibility to train and maintain the animal so that is doesn't become destructive. Little dog have to go to the bathroom more then big dogs because their bodies are small and their systems move quicker. Its the FIFO system "Food In Food Out" Keeping any pet well groomed and the nails trimmed helps a lot. Even the Italian greyhound needs some grooming, mostly nail trims. A few baths and such. If you want a allergen free pet get fish or a reptile.
we have mutts that are excellent with shedding.they shed very little and most of the time not at all...there is a chance with any dog that if you dont keep their nails clipped that they can make marks in a hardwood floor but you can definatly keep that undercontrol by clipping them quick...anyway our mutts are a chow/terrier mix which looks like a black corgie (about 15-20lbs haha shes fat) and a little shih-tzu/terrior mix (10lbs) that looks like a blonde toto lol anyway both of them have perfect temperments and even though the second one does have longer hair she really doent shed...so dont be turned off by long hair because a lot of times they dont have shedding problems
Yorkies and Poodles are 2 breeds I can think of. What do you mean by destroy your hardwood floors? If you mean that the new little puppy can never have an accident, I think you should forget about a puppy. I doubt it could destroy your floor although I would guess that it could get very stinky if left uncleaned. Puppies are much like babies. You have to clean up there messes until they are older, which is a very short time 1 year compared to children. May I suggest you train your puppy either by using a leash and keep it in the kitchen on a leash or in a cage. Get a book on how to house break a puppy. But just remember there are no guarantees it will never pee on your floor. They don't come with warrantees. Just a LOT OF LOVE. Good luck to you, and especially your little puppy.
Yorkie, I have two and rarely find hair anywhere. I think they are the best inside pet to have!!
Get a Yorkie, they have hair more like a human so do not shed. My mother had one when I was growing up and he never shed. You just have to make sure to groom them regularly. Just like brushing your own hair.
I have a Yorkie and a Chihuahua and they hardly shed and never destroy anything! They are both very sweet and loving small dogs.
