What is a good dog treat2007-11-25 2:52:22

i'm training my puppy (German Shepherd) and i've been using cheese cuz he didn't seem to like the store bought puppy treats. I think he's getting tired of cheese though, so i'd like to use something REALY special for him when he does his trick just right. any ideas? i'm kindof iffy about dog treats so how about some treats that are actually food--like cheese.

Pretty much any cooked meat is just fine. Buy some packed lunch meat. It's easy and dogs LOVE it.

hotdogs worked REAL good for me. just avoid those pig ear dog treats.. because they get stuck in their throat and tummys if they dont chew them up good.

Why not actually TAKE him to the store and let him pick it out? He may like it more. Like you would rather go shopping alone than with a guardian right? Or try something with a different flavor...I have the 'Steak House' and my dog have never got tired of it. They've been eating it for a LONG time! Still now^.^

You should try buying a special kind of dog sausage for him. My dog LOVES it, and it smells good. Don't be tempted by the smell, it certainly does not taste good to humans.

SCOOBY SNACKS!!! My dogs are addicted, we trained them off of Scooby Snacks andthey go through 1 box a week!

I have personally found dried liver is the best by far. It is cheap, easy and i have never found a dog not to like it!!
