you want to bring a dog into the family with a new baby coming, and two other big dogs that still need exercise, training, and attention.?

the other answer is correct, if you introduce your dogs to the baby in the right manner, they will think of him-or-her as the baby of the pack, their own, and protect him-her.

Get some training books or check out at the library, esp ones that tell you how to prepare for a baby. Have things on hand like diapers, baby powder and ointment, so the dogs get used to the smells.

The last thing you need with a baby coming (takes up 100% of your time) and two big dogs (take up 20% of your time) is to get another dog that will need training and watching!

Chances are you already have them. My labs are very kind and gentle, but... if anyone messes with mama... watch out! They are very protective and patient with children as well. At least mine are.

do NOT get any sort of pit bull, stereo types do not mean all of them are bad or will fit with the stereo type but the stereo type has been earned, not given!!

I like German Shepard's and black labs. my father had a German Shepard that was trained for work, my dad tried to give the attack command for a raccoon in the garbage outside, the dog thought he meant one of us kids, dad got stitches.
