What is a good moisturizer for a dogs (pug) nose2007-11-25 2:52:24

The top of my pug's nose is a little dry and occasionally flakes off. I asked my vet about it and she said that it's nothing to be alarmed with, but she was unable to recommend anything to use as a moisturizer. It must be itchy because she's always trying to rub her face on me.

Can anyone recommend something for her nose to moisturize it? Should we use vasoline?

I have 3 pugs and use Vaseline and a vitamin e cream to keep the nose clean and shiny!

I don't know about the nose but when my dogs feet started cracking my vet recommended vasaline. It works well on his feet but I would ask your vet if you could use it on her nose.

Their is nothing wrong my pug's nose it like that as well. The rubbing on you is maybe the nose is itching but it goes away the itching on the nose. I don't put something on my dog's nose and it seems it is not bothering him so much - can be because my dog is 12 y.

you have to be carefull with a dogs nose. if its dry it may be unwell. but if you are going to do something you should check with your dogs vet first, otherwise you could end up harming her.

Hi Monica T, you can use for your a dog's (pug) nose a Jojoba Oil. This oil a natural moisturizer that is also bacteriostatic. Also Organic Hempseed Oil. This oil have a higher percentage of polyunsaturated fats than any other vegetable oil. Very high in both Omega-3 and Omega-6 essential fatty acids (EFAs), which are both potent antioxidants and prostaglandin-mediating anti-inflammatories. You can mixed this are two oils and to get natural homemade balm for a dog's (pug) nose.
