What is better for your dog, freshly cooked food or kibble2007-11-25 2:52:25

Is freshly cooked meat and carrots with brown rice with vitamins better or is IAMS kibble better? I saw the fresh thing on Oprah but im not really sure which is better?

Well Iams is not a good food and I think for most people cooking for their dog is not a good idea because you may not be meeting the dogs nutritional needs. Unless you are willing to study dog nutrition you may do more harm then good. I think it's best is to feed a high quality human grade dog food and there are several available. Her experts were not so great, that ham and cheese sandwich thing, well that was ridiculous IMO.

Here are a few that are good: Solid Gold, Wellness, Canidae, Timberwolf Organics, Innova Evo, California Natural and Artemis Fresh Mix, there are several more but these are really good. They may be a bit pricey initially but they come out cheaper because you feed less. Fresh food is always better. Kibble is like eating Life Cereal. Once in a while is okay but every day for every meal isn't.

My parents prepare their dogs meals. Rice and meat. The dog gets sick if he eats store bought food. It's really up to your veterinarian. He is only aloud table scraps that are not spicy.
