What is done to the dogs when spayed/neutered
When a female dog is spayed all the reproductive organs are removed, and when a male dog is neutered he is castrated (testicle are removed). These are surgical procedures that take a few minutes, the spay takes a little longer, and the dog goes home the same day.
FEMALES HAVE THEIR UTERUS AND OVARIES REMOVED. MALES HAVE THEIR TESTES OR NUTS REMOVED
the same that is done to man/ woman
When a female is spayed the ovaries and uterus it taken out through an abdominal incision.
When a male is neutered/castrated the testicles and a large portion of the chord is removed, usually through a small incision just above the scrotum. On occasion the vet will remove the entire scrotal sac.
Spayed - This is an ovarian hysterectomy, which is abdominal surgery. The dog is anesthetized, then there is an incision made in their lower abdomen, usually where there belly button is, and their ovaries and uterus are removed.
Neutered - this is an Orchiectomy. They are anesthetized, and the incision is on the lower abdomen between their penis and testicles. The veterinarian removes their testicles. This is a less invasive surgery than a spay.
Oh, for the love of Pete.
When a female dog is spayed, her reproductive organs, the ovary and uterus are removed. It's like a hysterectomy in humans.
