What is great breed of small dog for apt living2007-11-25 2:52:27

I have been a trainer for 42 years and I have trained just about every breed out there and after my first Sharpei had cancer and had to be put down, I knew that there was only one replacement for her and it was another Sharpei.

There are pros and cons about each. With a female you have heat cycles unless you have her fixed. With males you have territorials issues and them marking their area. So it all depends on your personal preference. Same thing with which ever breed you choose.

Just do a lot of research before you make your decision.

i would say poodle. but their pretty high energy.

how much time woudl you have with your dog each day? how much excercise? i would also say a greyhound. very lazy. a walk each day will keep them satisfied.

It depends. If you are out of the house for more than 8hrs a day, then getting a dog isnt very smart. And if you are worried about accidents, they are what puppies do. Maybe adopting a already trained dog, from a shelter will be alot easier. And puppies CAN NOT be left alone for more than 2hrs at a time. They always seem to get into trouble. I would HIGHLY reccomend adopting a retired greyhound. some of them are under a ye4ar or two. They are lovely dogs, lazy (despite popular beleif) , dont bark much or shed much, and only need a walk or two a day. They are bigger than "small" but they are great. IN actual fact, long haired dogs do not shed as much. It just tends to be caught in the long coat until it is brushed.
