What is the averadge price to have a dog debarked2007-11-25 2:52:32

I don't like it, but in some circumstances it has it's purpose.

My dogs were very well trained, the neighbor was an idiot !

All the vet did was widen the space between the vocal cords...didn't cut the cords...just made a wider opening, so less sound.

Try a local Beagle club or Sheltie club, ask for a vet referral.both breeds are often debarked so the owners don't lose the dogs to upset neighbor complaints.

After care is super important.need to keep the dog quiet for a week? after or the voice may come back just as loud.

I always prefer training to surgery ! But sometimes it is the only way. I didn't trust my neighbor not to poison my dogs !

I caught him trying to hose my litter of 5week old puppies over the back fence...he really was psycho.

My dogs were competition dogs, that I put a huge amount of time, money and effort into them and they were my beloved pets.

The $$$ price, or the price the dog pays because you are too lazy to train / teach it not to bark and you opt for the easy way out and have the dog debarked.. You know that they can still make sound?? You know that it regularly grows back???

take a spray bottle full of water and every time the dog barks spray it in the face and say shhhhh. Then turn your back to it. If it barks again, spray it and if it stays quiet kneel down to its level and say "good shhhh". If this doesn't work hire a trainer, it will be cheaper than surgery. I work at an animal shelter and can keep 14 shelter dogs quiet, you should be able to handle one.

You would be better off spending that money on a dog trainer to train your dog not to bark, honestly. To debark a dog, the procedure is expensive. Also, you will also have to purchase pain medication for the dog after surgery. Even then the dog could get an infection so that cost even more money! Seriously, hire a dog trainer. It will be well worth it and your dog will not have to suffer. Plus, the trainer can show you some other things to help control your dog. I don't know if you have ever heard a debarked dog "bark", but it is anoying. Some make high pitched noises and it sounds awful. Plus, the procedure may not work and your dog may still be able to bark. Lots of dogs find a new way to bark after the surgery. Just a heads up...

that is so mean...they are talking themselves...how about this...you get him debarked...and then have your tongue snipped.my dog barks all the time...i talk all the time.so what...i am sure you don't take him out much...molst dogs that bark...stay indoors...get him out to see what the sounds are..
