What is the average payment for a Stud When breeding Dogs
Just wondering how much is the average payment for a stud when breeding purebred dogs. I think 1 puppy or the value of 1 puppy is fair. Considering he doesn't share in the expenses of rearing the pups. What do you think?

Answers:You show your dog right? She is gorgeous. Usually the pick of the litter especially when she champions or the price of one pup. If you got her from a breeder usually they will want a puppy of her anyways espescially when she champions. I would pay the fee first and then see which one she likes the best if she isn't your favorite offer her and get your money back my mom did that with her papillon. I wish I had a vizsla. I wouldn't advise breeding her until shes championed since it ruins their coats and body until she recovers. If its a male it doesn't matter. Good luck
I agree with you. I honestly think the person with the stud should have to pay. It is our female that has to carry the litter and take care of it afterwords.
It really depends on what breed you're talking about
Normally it is the average value of one puppy. Never, ever offer 'pick of litter' to the owner of the stud dog..That will invariably cause heartbreak..You may want to offer 'second pick'. Better yet, Wait until you can afford to pay the fee..In any 'pick of litter' arrangement, if there is only one puppy, the owner of the female keeps it, and no fee is owed.
Also, be sure that the male has been tested for brucelosis, a canine STD.
Be certain to have any arrangement in writing...
We normally pay the price of a puppy. We don't offer pick of the litter (because we want that one) we pay the money then if they want to buy a pup they can. Expect to pay more if the stud dog has been imported from overseas.
