Just an FYI, showing can be very political, especially with AKC. I suggest getting an AKC registered dog and dual registering with UKC. UKC has a much more family oriented atmosphere for learning and less politics. After you've gotten the hang of it, try an AKC show. The downside to UKC is that there are not as many shows being held whereas AKC has lots of shows all the tme. Handling classes are highly recommended before entering a show but they're not required. Good luck! Showing is sooo much fun and very addicting.

maltese usually range at about 1000, yorkie can be up to 2500. depends if u get from a breeder or from a store.

I think you better think twice about going into the dog show business. If you knew enough nto do so, you wouldn't have to ask about prices. And in case you didn't get the hint from the other people ..bred is the correct spelling, in this case.

Try getting a motorcycle to compete with.

Pure bred dogs can cost sometimes as much as 2000, I would suggest looking in your local animal shelter, you can find some really good dogs there

Depends on what kind of dog you are looking for and whether or not it is registered. Our Lab was $400.00 because he came from a champion blood line. Our Cocker Spaniel was only $250.00 because she didn't have papers. If you do buy a dog please get it from a breeder. Pet stores get their dogs from puppy mills.

Price depends on the breed of the dog. However, if you are serious about showing dogs, the price will be very high( ie..sex, breed). You will have to do a search of breeders who breed with a champion sire or dam, or both. I know I purchased a Yorkie sired by a AKC Champion father, who grand parents were Champions, and he was $2000, females from this same litter went for $2500...Price was lowered because I didn't plan to breed or show him. My suggestion to you is to first select the breed you are interested in, then research that breed, then find breeders of Champion dogs.AKC registered dogs are the best dogs, due to the AKC's standards and regulations. Yorkies weight should not exceed 7lbs, however it isn't a good idea to buy a breeding/showing female that would mature to be anything under 5lbs.
