Dogs get what i call anxiety issues. They are pack animals and when we leave they can't come with us and they get lonely and upset. Don't rush out and get another dog to keep him company cause dogs give each other bad habits. There is nothing wrong with placing your dog in a crate. I assume it's just till you get home from work or go out for a while. Husky's are very active dogs, in fact ours chased the neighbors chickens till he ran them to death . He didn't kill them or eat them-- just running them into the ground. Cages should never be used for punishment but a place for him to rest or for him to have time out from us humans. If he is less then 3 yrs old he will be very active. I gave mine a chew bone and if he tried any thing else i would take a pop can with rocks in it and throw near him. it scares him and lets him know it's not acceptable to chew on anything else. once he gets older it should stop. He's still a puppy truefully.

If you use the crate to discipline, it won't calm him down.

Some dogs have a strong need to chew.

I am concerned that you are unable to give him enough time to exercise him and socialize him. If you cannot care for him as he needs, it would be best to rehome him.
