its pretty much impossible to groom a pom yourself. believe me i have one and if yours is a hyper as mine...impossible.
It has to do with you and your patience. You need to be gentle, caring, and repetitive. Start with the dog as young as you can and be consistent. Make it a routine. The dog will find it relaxing and therapeutic as you will.
buy a bladed comb, it will decrease the pulling on the skin and your dog will actually enjoy it...eventually.
