What is the best way to remove porcupine needles from a dog
To get them out a twist and pull gently at the same time would be my way. I AM sorry for the dog.
I realize not everyone has close help available, and the dog needs help now!
Done at home, take it to Vet asap. No pliers? Use leather gloves.
Twears and some neosprone right after u pull them out wit the twears put the neosprone in or u could just take themn in if ur that worried about it.
please please take them in. We had a dog that this happened to. It really is painful and if you bring them in they will give them a seditive. Granted they didn't get them all out of our dog and we had to push several remaining one through over the next coming weeks
The Vet is the best place for a dog to go to have quills removed! My dog got quilled 2 times so far in 3 years. I tried to remove them the fist time thinking my dog would let me...they are very hard to remove from the mouth, some go thru the lip into the gum. I didn't succeed so the vet put her under and removed them.
Just 2 days ago I heard her whining real bad and saw her face was totally covered with quills, worse than the first time. She was bleeding really bad and this time there were what seemed like hundreds all over her face and inside her mouth. The vet had to sedate her and my girlfriend and I and the Vet all worked on her to remove them. Took about 15 mins with all 3 of us using hemostats. Alot of them broke off in her lips and she is having a hard time with it now. I am giving her the antibiotic prescribed and hoping the rest of the quills work themselves out! A bad experience for me, but worse for my dog.
sorry fork up the money the dog is worth it and you don't want an infection ..this is very painful to a dog.go to the vet
