What is the difference between these Purina Dog Foods2007-11-25 2:52:40

Little Bites, Dog Chow, and Puppy Food

I have a 3 1/2 year old Cocker Spaniel outside, he is eating Dog Chow.

I also have a 4 1/2 year old Jack Russell Terrier inside, he is eating Little Bites.

and we just got a female Jack Russell Terrier puppy last weekend (8 weeks old now) and she is eating Puppy Chow.

I am hoping to consolidate the number of different foods we have to buy... Which should I eliminate? What exactly is the differences between them all? What are the benefits of each for each dog?

Check the bag, I think LB and Purina Chow are the same but diff size kibbles. Puppy chow has more calories, protein etc for growing dogs. Many breeders do not feed puppy food, I haven't when I had a pup. Although I use Purina I won't feed any of those as they are not naturally preserved and you have to feed more to get the same results plus the ingredient quality is not as good as a better dog food. If I had to use a grocery store brand I would use ONE. Dogs coats and stools are better on a better dog food..

quailty is the differents..my step dad is a vet and he never lets me buy food that hows the word chow in it..or any thing less then ims. it has it all from smalll breeds to puppys thats all my puppy eats and he get bigger and biger every month

well to be honest they arent that great of foods but since your using them i would say that the puppy needs the nutrients in the puppy food until hes a year old. so thats out. the indoor dog could maybe switch to dog chow but the bites may be too big for his mouth. so prolly the one to eliminate is the dog chow im sure the cocker wouldnt mind eating the little bites but the jack russell might have problems with a bigger kibble.

allright. id suggest getting off any purina food at all. its contains corn in the first two ingredients which does nothing for the dog. it contains byproducts that are chicken feet, feathers.nasty stuff like roadkill too!, it contains dies that are harmful to the kidney and liver, and they have to eat so much of it to get the nutrition they need they end up gaining weight! switching to a holistic brand like Eagle Pack Holistic Select, Innova, Wellness, Canidae. will greatly increase the health of your animal and decrease allergies and what not. Please stay away from all grocery brand products that look for the cheapest ingredients so they can get the most profit.
