What is the difference between these Purina Dog Foods2007-11-25 2:52:40

I have a jack russell and I feed her Innova. Also consider Canidae, Wellness, etc. There really is a big difference in the ingredients.Purina has a lot of junk in it.

All I have to say is read the ingredients in the food!

It is full of fillers like corn and it has By-Product in it. This food is not good for any animals!

Wellness is a great natural food to try. You get what you pay for!

you could just get the little bites to feed your older dogs but should keep the puppy chow until your puppy is old enough for the adult brands because the puppies need the additional calories for their growing bodies.

You have to compare the ingredients on the bags to find out the differences between the foods. I don't recommend Purina b/c corn meal and meat by-products are the first 2 ingredients listed on most of their dry food. Corn and by-products are not easily digestible by your dog and can lead to increased bowel movement and/or stomach ache. Also, they have no nutritional value so it's like feeding your dog junk food simply to fill him up.

Look for a food without corn and that has chicken, lamb, etc listed as a main ingredient...no by-products! Nutro Natural Choice lamb & rice dog food is a good choice.

Canidae has a food that is for ALL life stages. Yes, it is a little more expensive, but you actually feed less because less passes through. Fillers are of no nutritional value what so ever, they make your dog feel full for a brief time, then pass right through.
