Our dog does that. She had seizures and some would be worse than others. I have heard that it is more common with some breeds. We took her to the vet and basically when she would have them we would just hold her and comfort her and then they would ease up.

About a year later, we found out thru trial and error that she is allergic to wheat and once we cut that out her seizures really just stopped.

Our dog also has this cough/sneeze kinda like we do. So now, I believe our whole family has allergies... Good luck... Maybe the next time your dog does that you can have your phone/camera handy and video it so you can show it to your vet.

Your description may be of a dog starting to sneeze--or a dog having a seizure. Seizure behavior varies from dog to dog but usually involves some stage of disorientation from several seconds with some head tilting and often followed by a loud cry. When a dog recovers from a seizure, he seems to have no awareness of what had just happened.
