Any dog can be "easy to train" and "good with kids" provided you have the time, patience, and consistency to train the dog to do such.

There are many breeds that will 'fit the bill' but you might want to consider getting a mixed breed. A small dog from a shelter would be great -- you'd be giving a homeless dog a chance for a new life! Plus the people at the shelter should be able to tell you about your dog's personality.

Puppies are a TON of work. House-training is hard enough, but has anyone ever told you about the CHEWING?? Dogs will chew any and everything, until they are at least 18 months old! Which is why I prefer to adopt adult dogs...
