What should I do if I found a dog but cant keep it2007-11-25 2:53:07

My husband found a dog that has obviously been out on her own for a while. She's very skinny and seems to have some medical problems. We can't keep her because we're living at a friend's house for the time being and she would end up costing us more money than we can spare. We live in the Atlanta area. Does anyone know of a no-kill shelter that will take her off our hands and give her a better chance at surviving than we can?

I would look for a SAD (save a dog) or ASPCA around your area where the dog can be brought to, rescued, restored to health, and then adopted by a family who can care for it.

Go to petfinder.com and it will show a list of shelters in your area that will take an adoptable pet and find it a home. I'm sure in the Atlanta area there are lots of them. It will list privately run shelters that are no kill and will very often place animals in homes with "foster parents" until they find a permanent home.
