What should I do

What should I do2007-11-25 2:53:33

a dog is for life, not for a couple of years. they are also expensive - im not sure your parents want to pay the $2000 a year it will cost to keep him, or the extra vet bills if he gets sick - will you?

.

Sadly it would be so unfair on the dog to bring it from a shelter shower lots and lots of love on it and then leave it to go to college. Please do not get one it will be so unfair on the dog. Instead of getting a dog why don't you adopt a dog through Dogs Trust or an organisation like that and maybe do some voluntary work when you are not at college.

Unless you can afford to pay someone to look after the dog for you whilst you are at college I can't think of anyother solution except wait until after you finish college. This is probably not the answer you want to hear but please think of the dogs feelings and needs before your own.

you need to wait..it isnt fair to your parents or the dog..if you cant give the pup a 100% you are just being selfish wanting a dog for the summer..it will miss you terribly come fall...just wait for now
Honestly if you can only keep the dog for a year or so and not take it with you when you go to college I would not get one at all. It's not fair to the dog.

Instead I suggest that maybe you either foster for a shelter or volunteer until you have to move away. That way you will still have dogs in your life, but won;t have to suffer the heartbreak of having to let it go just as you have got to know and love it.
