I have left my pets with the vet to dispose of and I have brought them home to be buried. I guess whatever will help you with her passing.
I choose to bury mine because I feel that way they will be at rest forever. If you keep ashes.. what will happen to them when you are gone? If you choose to cremate you could bury the ashes... The thing that bothers me about cremating pets is that they do several at once and you get ashes from several pets. They do not cremate one at a time. When I have to bury a pet, I plant a flowering tree over them and as weird as it might sound to some.. the tree gets fertilized from them and they live on through the tree.
sorry to hear about your loss. the choice is what you are comfortable with. if you choose to bury, you should keep in mind that where you bury your dog is important. other dogs and animals will smell the scent and will sometimes try to unbury it. so if you bury it would be advisable to make sure that if unburied they can not get to your dogs remains. if you cremate you can get a small urn or box to keep with you always.
When my two cats died a few years back we had them cremated, then my stepmom took a jewelry box for each one (the kind where you can put a picture on the top) and put the ashes of each cat in a box. Then she just glued them shut and put a picture of the cat in the top part so we could have them as kind of a memorial without having to have the ashes of our pet just sitting around in a bag. Sorry about your dog.
i think u should bury her...?
Saying goodbye to your dog can be very difficult. When my dog was hit by a car, we rushed her to the vet where they told us she had died. Before we decided to get her cremated, the vet said it was illegal to bury your pet un-cremated (at least in Los Angeles), but he did so anyway when his own dog had died. He cried harder with every shovel, he added. So we assumed that burying your uncremated pet was a very emotional and difficult task, and we got her cremated. We then buried her in the garden, which was an emotional night for us, but I think it would have been harder for the family to do so had she not been cremated. Though the pain of our loss was still very close, the cremation was very helpful for closure (and the new dog hasn't bothered with her 'plot' yet either).
