What should i do if my puppy has diarrhea2007-11-25 2:53:08

he has also been acting kind of sad and hes been sleeping alot

Lets look at what you are feeding him. Do not give him milk, candy, cookies, or chocolate. too much fat or meat. Of course he would love this but it is not good for him. And all of the above cause diarrhea.

Check his gums, if they look light pinkish white get to a vet. right away. He may be sick. Have you given him a worm treatment yet? You should also take a stool sample to the vet. I hope you get him there fast and all is okay, but if I were you I would be worried if it wasn't something you fed him. Get a book about dogs, they tell you everything you need to know and how to deal with these kinds of problems. But you mostly need a good vet who will help you to take good care of your dog.

Canned pumpkin (not pie filling with spices) is the best cure I have ever found. If it goes on for more than 24 hours though see the vet.

Well.. If it were me, I would take him in to see the vet, and see why he has diarrhea..

I wouldn't ask on YA what I should do, cause I know that people generally can only guess or give suggestions as to what it may be based on their past experiences.. The only way to know for sure.. take some of the poop to the vet, and get him to find out what the problem might be. He can take a good look at your puppy.. and tell you what is wrong.
