What should we do about our foster Chihuahua
We are currently fostering a long haired Chihuahua and we may adopt it. The problem is we have an 8o lb mutt. They are getting laong except the little dog is territorial of the couch and the bed. Everytime the Chihuahua is on the couch and my other dog comes near he starts barking really bad, as well as near the bed. The dog was dumped on the side of the road and we are the first ones to get it so Im not sure if that has anything to do with it. I really love the dog but I don't know if we will be able to adopt it, it is a very good little dog except for that.
Answers:Well, of course it's neither dogs fault. The "mutt" that you have is just not used to it yet...it will take plenty of time. (I was in the same situation) When you bring a dog into another dogs home it takes a good while for them to both get comfortable with the other in it's home. My dog was the same way but has figured out that the new puppy is stayin for good and she's PRETTY MUCH gotten over it. So...if I were you...I'd give it patience and keep the poor puppy. I'm sure it doesn't wanna be thrown out again. Good luck!!!
Well, your 8 lb dog is protective of his spots which is normal to dogs. You'll just have to sit between them like my parents did with my sister and I growing up lol. Or let your new dog have his own special chair with a blanket over it so the material won't get ruined. This way he knows that chair is his own chair and he won't upset your other dog. The dogs will probably be best friends soon and will be playing, sleeping, etc together. Give him time. I think it will work out. Chihuahuas are great.
