What the hell is wrong with my Chi(puppy) she is 3 and half months2007-11-25 2:53:12

and today i witnessed her eat your own crap?! plus im still having potty trainning issues with her...she knows that she should pee outside on her pee pads..but she knows that i well be upset with her if she does her business in the house yet she does it anyway...the thing is. i crate her at night...from 10pm till 12 the next day..and she holds it no problem! But when i give her some freedom to run around my apartment ...she gets lazy and piss's and craps!! what am i doing wrong?

Dogs don't do things to "get even", they don't have the mental capacity to think in terms that complex.

Try taking her to puppy training classes.. they really make a difference. You don't seem to be doing anything wrong.

A lot of dogs eat their own poop. I know it sounds nasty, but really, they do. Especially young puppies. They have to learn that you don't think it's acceptable. Swat her nose and say, "NO!" firmly everytime she tries to eat it.

As for potty training. How long do you let her run around in the house? Do you supervise her? I'll use my 3 month old Pomeranian as an example. He's potty trained, and if I'm watching him, he won't dare pee in the house. But if I leave him alone for ten minutes, chances are he'll go off and pee. Young puppies tend to do that. Just put her out often and monitor her!

You aren't necessarily doing anything wrong. Chihuahuas are notoriously difficult to housetrain. It usually takes up to a year, so please be patient! It took us almost a year for our chihuahua to finally get it, but he eventually did. We could not give him full run of the house during that time. Rather, we confined him to the room we were in, or we put him on his leash and put the handle underneath the coffee table leg so he couldn't go very far. The most important thing is to punish each and every time your puppy goes in the house. We had to physically catch our chihuahua in the act for him to connect the dots. It took us a year to catch him pooping because he did the deed so fast! Good luck!!

Go to the pet store. They sell a powder that comes in a little white package. You sprinkle it on her food she eats it and when she poops it will make the poop taste very bitter and not tasty. Very unappealing
