What to do re: neighbors scary dog2007-11-25 2:53:15

My neighbor has two dangerous dogs who bark and seem to want to jump the fence at everyone who walks by the house. I have a 10 year old and I'm scared that these dogs will eventually jump the fence and attack someone. What can I do? I am not sure of their race, but its one of those attack dogs.

I would talk to your neighbors first. See if they and their dogs are friendly. Sometimes in that situation, the dogs are just letting you know that your close to their property, but are very friendly once you meet them. I have a small dog the tends to run at people when we're outside and I appologize everytime, cause it scares people, but she really isn't a mean dog and definately isnt a biter. So I encourage them to pet her and get to know her so she wont run at them in the future.

If the owners are unapproachable, and wont talk to you about the dogs I would contact your local authorities about your rights and the laws in your area about threatening dogs.

See if there are any local regulations regarding barking dogs. Start there by lodging complaints. Have you tried to talk to your neighbor about the dogs? Even tried to meet the dogs so they know who you are?
