What type of dog should i get based on my "info"

I have to go to school for 7hrs..no 1 is home at that time.

i love running! i want a dog that is active

i want a dog that doesnt shed a lot and causes little allegy problems!

i have a brother under 5

and i want one that doesnt need a lot of grooming...

WHAT DOG SHOULD I GET?

honestly, with your busy schedule..I would get a cat...

no doggie wants to be left alone that long.

As for the folks suggesting labs...I agree..i love love love labs...they are my fav dogs..but they shed ALOT!! which doesn't meet one of your parameters.

The amount of excercise is awesome, but the alone for 7 hours thing..:-(

If you do get a dog, an older dog, perhaps a mutt from the pound would be good. Older more settled dogs (5 years or so) are usually more willing to lay around and chew on a bone alone for hours, and still get up and go jogging with you.

yes, beagles that someone suggested are neat dogs, but they are too high energy to be left alone that long, they do better in a working household (working dog, like hunting, agility etc) You might come home and find your house destroyed. (happens to my sister)

What I would suggest for you, if you are determined to get a dog..volunteer as a foster home for the humane society or another dog rescue organization.

This will give you time to find out if a dog is what you can handle, what kind of dog...and you will be doing the doggy world a huge favor by providing loving therapy and warm place to sleep for a doggy waiting for a forever home.
