What wil get my dog to stop chewing2007-11-25 2:53:46

My dog is 5yrs old and has always been good in a regular plastic kennel. 2 yrs ago we built a kennel under our steps in the garage for him, there is alot of space and he generally likes it. We have it enclosed with wood and he has always chewed through it to get out, we have to replace it every month it seems like. Is there anything that I could spray or put on his kennel door to keep him from chewing a hole through it? A household remedy that dogs can't stand to taste?

he probably wants to be out in the sun - and able to see. If he is under your stairs he cant investigate noises that he hears causing him to go into a panic and eating the wood. Try moving the kennel. Hes doing it for a reason - not because he likes wood. So putting something on the wood wouldnt fix the problem.

Bitter apple spray might help. You can find it at all pet stores and its used to to get puppies to stop chewing on anything you want.

Exercise him before you put him in it so he is tired and doesn't need to release energy by chewing.
