What would cause my dogs (two) to eat grass all the time2007-11-25 2:54:26

My dogs are indoors but when I take them out they are always eating grass. I know that this is usually a sign of a stomach ache, but they do it all the time. Could it be tainted food, or some missing vitamin or mineral?

Answers:

They probably hate the food you're giving them, so they've gone to a last resort. Stop them from eating grass IMMEDIATELY because doing that exposes them of being diagnosed with a disease like parvo or WORMS! Hurry up!

yeah if its ALL THE TIME, then its prolly the food you are feedign them tey another brand or a higher quality food. do you feed tehm scraps? are tehy eathing their own feces?

Some Dogs just like the taste of grass. Unless it really upset their stomach its no big deal.

you are on the right track! My dogs eat grass when they don't feel well or they could be lacking necessary vitamins. My dogs prefer to eat weeds and then they come back inside. Hope this helps

Sounds like the food you are feeding them.If you give them a lot of table scraps,I'd maybe cut down on that and see if it helps.If not,then I suggest switching their dog food.If their grass-eating still persists,check with your veternarian.He/she can answer your questions and suggest the best diet for your pets! :)

I'm pretty sure I've heard if they eat grass its a sign that that could have worms or a stomach ache. They may just be eating it but to be on the safe side, I would have your vet check them out.

Actually, it may not be a sign if an upset stomach. I "googled" "dogs eating grass" and found any number of responses, none of which seemed to indicate it is a problem.
