i would own the Belgian Groenendael or the Belgian Tervuren. but i would rather own the groenendael more than the tervuren.

I have owned the Laekenois and the malinois. I have owned the first malinois in the US and the first one to work the street as a police dog. They are both pretty similar in temperament, but, the malinois RULES the world of working dogs. There is not a finer, more intense, more dedicated, more complete, better all around WORKING dog then a malinois and yes, I am gung-ho about them. Anyone who has ever worked one will never want to work anything else again. And anyone who has lived with a real, working quality malinois will tell you they will never do it again. Too much dog for most people, but, what a GREAT working animal.

The Belgian Manlinois... i really like this dog plus you wont have as big of a problem with like brushing the fur and stuff but i also think that the Belgian Groenendael is a beautiful dog so id would pick it instead

the malinois is more like a German shepherd-all of them need lots of space-and the Laekenois I have no idea. i've never heard of that breed. however, the tervuren is very possessive and needs a ton of love and attention.

I have a friend who is a pro. trainer and involved in schutzund training- she has told me that every one of the 5 or 6 malinois owners he knows (very knowledgeable, dog savvy people) have been 'lit up', or bitten, by their dogs- they joke it's a 'right of passage' of owning one. I've never had one, after her story, i wouldn't want to- I love shepherds, but malinois sound like a little too much dog for me.

I would go with the Belgian Malinois. It looks so much like a German Shepard. I think it would be the easiest dog to maintain out of all of them. It has a short coat. Which means less grooming.
