Whats the best way to teach a dog to catch a frisbee2007-11-25 2:54:35

She's a Jack Russell/Australian Shepherd mix. A good jumper too and about 4-5 months old. She knows some tricks already so teaching her to catch or go after a frisbee shouldn't be too hard, I just don't know the techniques.

Answers:

Use a soft frisbee that you can get at the pet store. Start by "playing fetch" with it and throwing it low and short. Once she starts catching it, start throwing it further, but still low. When she gets the hang of that, start throwing it higher and farther.

Go outsideand throw it a few times and go get it and let it get comfortable with the frisbee. Then it will catch it sooner or later

A lot of patience. Just throw it for her and have her bring it back. Then after a few of those tell her to go get it as you throw it. If she already knows tricks she should catch right on. Be patient though.
