She may have an allergy to her food. However, if she's only showing this behavior at your house, it's possible that she is nervous. Scratching is a sign of nervousness. Try looking into some calming strategies. (Maybe she doesn't like being away from her owner?)
However, it's better to go to a vet than try to diagnose a medical issue yourself. Dogs can be given Benadryl, but its much better to find the cause than just treat symptoms.
You can give a dog Benadryl. Here's a dose chart for human meds for dogs:

I would seriously consider bringing the dog to a vet to be sure that it is not worms!
Sounds like your dog and my dog can from the same family (LOL) My vet had change her dog bowls from plastic to ceramic to start off. Second if you look between her paws are they red or have blisters? You will have to go to the vet to get some benzoperoxide wash. I dose mine with 150mg of benadryl a day (she is a pit) and I would STRONGLY contacting your vet before giving her anything. The scooting around mine does the same thing while it could be from an impacted anal gland (vet can take care of that) it could also be due to her allergies. I hope this helps.
Keep the grass cut very short. Consider laying down some tarp over the grass when the dog is visiting. You can buy breathable grass cover that will not harm your grass but will keep grass from contacting the dog's feet. Benadryl is OK but consult a vet about the dosage. You can also get pills made just for dogs, it's up to you. It will make the dog drowsy just like you. Look very carefully at the dog's food, take the dog off wheat based foods, if he's allergic to grass he undoubtedly has allergies to other plants.
who said the dog was allergic to grass?? that is highly unlikely... dragging rear on ground is a sign of worms, or impacted anal glands.. she could have flea bite dermatitis etc. start by feeding a high quality dry kibble with NO corn, grains, by products ( canidae is a good choice) and go from there,, i also suggest you take this dog on regular leash walks outside for fresh air!!!
Dogs actually can take over the counter meds or allergy meds..Just call your vet and ask.
