Whats the cheapest and most hassle-free way to have my dog taken care of while Im on vacation2007-11-25 2:54:37

Kennel is the next best thing. Shop around your area for local people with kennels instead of the big commercial kennels. I have 2 dogs and when we go away it runs about $ 20 per day per dog... but thats east texas .. and they get play time, fed 2 times a day and bathed at the end of their stay.

ask a friend. thats what i do. thats what friends are for. dont forget the food, treats and favorite toys.

You should just board the dog with a nice local family owned kennel.. Cost isn't too bad, and your dog gets attention and treated well while you are away..

Otherwise it sounds like you might have to actually go out of your way or something.

Well, I have had success with having friends stay at my place with my dogs. I always asked people who still lived at home, or would consider it a "vacation" to get away from their own home. I only had one bad experience when a 19 yr old son of a friend volunteered to stay. He and his buddies found where I hid the booze and watered it down as they drank it, lol...goofs. But anyway, it worked for us every other time.

i would try to find a friend to watch her. its cheap and you can be certain they will take good care of your dog.

Unless you trust a neighbour enough, boaridng is the safest bet for peace of mind, since if the dogs gets ill, a neighbour may not necessarily do something quick enough but a boarding kennell will.
