Whats your favorite type of dog bree and why

The Dalmatian breed is very old, with somewhat obscure origins from places like Asia, Europe, and Egypt, but Dals have always had a strong affinity with horses.

His activities have been as varied as his reputed ancestors. He has been a dog of war, a sentinel on the borders of Dalmatia and Croatia.

He has been employed as draft dog, as shepherd.

He is excellent on rats and vermin.

He is well known for his heroic performances as fire-apparatus follower and fire-house mascot.

As a sporting dog he has been used as bird dog, as trail hound, as retriever, or in packs for boar or stag hunting.

His retentive memory had made him one of the most dependable clowners in circuses and on the stage.

Down through the years the intelligence and willingness of the Dalmatian have found him in practically every role to which useful dogs are assigned.

In England, in the 1800's, Dalmatians escorted and protected horses and carriages of the well to do. It was common to see them traveling with their horses as the socialite owners drove their finest carriages around the social water Parks. They made good vermin killers in the barn, and guarded the barn, grain, and horses. A wide brass collar protected their necks from attacks by other dogs.

When fire departments began, their fire wagons were horse-drawn. Dalmatians cleared the path for the horses to travel. At the fire, the dogs were used as search and rescue and mascots to calm the horses. Their coloration made it easy for the horses to see them, night or day. To this day, they are known as "Coach Dogs" and "Firedogs." They are well known, too, as they ride on the famous Budweiser beer wagons pulled by Clydesdales.
