We Alway bath ours before they go to a new home. A very mild shampoo like baby shampoo works great (you need very little amount. )afterwards keep the puppy warm. and they will be fine.
We breed Pomeranians and have done this countless times.
and all of our puppies are Great.
and yes flea shampoo and anything with added med in it should not be used till 12 weeks old.
And We agree, Baby shampoo works great on them. :)
I gave my babies their first baths, with Johnson & Johnson's baby shampoo, a week after I got them. I guess that would have been between 5-6 weeks old. Hope this helps!!! DOGS RULE!
its 12 weeks not 4-6. Only 4-6 if not using shampoo. You may be able to find a really mild shampoo that allows sooner, but Ive not seen it. Puppy shampoo says 12 weeks. If its for fleas and they/it is younger than 12 wks then use a flea comb. First bath Id use oatmeal shampoo or puppy.
Same as a human baby can. Put him carefully in a small bowl with a little warm water and puppy shampoo (mildest one you can get) or baby bath even, test the water make sure it isn't too hot for his young skin, and bath him. Dont get soap in his eyes and when you take him out gently rub him dry with a soft towel and of course make sure the room is nice and warm and keep him warm so he doesnt shiver.
