When do dogs go in heat again after they are pregnant2007-11-25 2:54:43

i have a great pyrense she has babies that are almost 4 weeks old, when the puppies are weaned when will she come in heat again so i know not to let her outside where a lab can get her or any other mutt

Typically, they will come in heat again 6-7 months from their previous heat cycle. Not 6-7 months after the pups are weaned. This is where alot of people mess up.

After her puppies are out of the house, please get her spayed so you don't have to worry about it! And if you're planning to intentionally breed her, please don't - If you don't know the answer to a question like this, you don't know enough to breed her!

Heat cycles vary from female to female. I have had some cycle back after 4 months from their last heat, and have had some that only cycled every 10 months. Most of mine cycle every 6 to 7 months. So start looking for a heat when the pups are about 4 months of age. If you are a proffesional breeder, why do you need to ask this? What are the normal heat cycles for your female?

After reading some of your other questions, how can you call yourself a professional breeder??? You have a 3 week old litter of mutts that you asked about. So obviosly you didn't keep an eye on your girl, and your lab got her. You should get all of your dogs altered, and stop producing more mutts into the world!
