he might had a dramatic exprience when he was outof your house, and now see you as someone who is not that friendly because you let him escaped.

Your best bet is to get straight to the vets. If he wont let you look he might need to be slightly sedated by the vets.

Did the big dog attack him?

If he has been out & stayed out he could have got into the garbage & ate something he should have not.

If I was you I would take him there, they can give you a better idea of what could be wrong with him, He must be in pain for him to behave the way he is with you if this is not his normal behaviour.

Its possible that someone could have hurt your dog put him through trauma.if hes a small dog it would be easy for someone to pick him up by the scruff an hurt him. its possible his neck might be a little bruised after being in a fight. give him a week if his behaviour doesn't change or gets worse see a vet

He may have broken his neck! Please take him to the vet asap. If the dog is screaming when you touch him, that's not a good sign. If I had to guess, I'd say he was hit by a car. I saw a dog get hit by a car and the outside of the dog looked fine. He was bleeding internally and started to vomit blood. If you don't get your dog to a vet soon you could lose him!!!
