When is a good time to start breeding yorkies2007-11-25 2:54:48

my two yorkies are starting to hump each other,they are both boys and i've been told that they want to breed, but they are only 6-7 months old.. I'ver never breed dogs before so I don't know what the age is to start doing it.. I have been asked by anumber of people if I would hold one of the puppies if do breed them.. so I have homes for any pups i might have.. and a ***** to breed them with.. the only thing is I love my dogs and a big dog lover.. so i don't want to rush anything if they are not really to breed..so should I let them breed or should I wait a few months??

There is NEVER a good time to breed Yorkies.

I doubt you'd find a quality bytch with two random males that young anyway.

Male dogs should be 1 1/2 yrs old before they're bred. Females should be 2 years old.

for males its not as important, but i would wait until they mature a little more. for females, u should wait until her second heat cycle.

If they are both males and humping each other, it's not a sign of them wanting to breed, it's a sign that they are trying to show dominance over each other.

If you don't know the answer to the question of when is a good time to start breeding them, then you shouldn't breed - Have them neutered.
