When you alter him/her. Pits are one of the most over bred breeds in America. Save a life by not having a litter... One out of nine Pits will live out there natural lives. Only one. Like I said... save a life... don't let your dog breed.
At 4 or 5 months of age, right after it has been to the vet and has been neutered. And that's the truth.
We kill at least 100 a week at our local shelter, pits and pit mixes. Everybody has to breed them. Nobody wants them except for fighting (what a shame...great dogs). And most insurance (home owner's insurance) companies are now cancelling your home-owner's insurance if you own a pit. Many shelters are just euthanizing them immediately and refusing to even adopt them about.
So don't -- DO NOT -- bring one more pit puppy into this world, only to suffer a very early death or be mauled to death as BAIT to train the fighting dogs. Those are the people who will take the puppies.
