When is it safe to switch my puppys food

My 12 week old puppy have been eating Eukanuba puppy food (dry kind) since I got her from the breeder...That was what they fed her. I want to switch her to a better quality food because she's having some skin problems; I heard you can't really switch their food until they are 12 months old or so. Is that true?

I have some great ideas...

1) get the puppy off all WHEAT AND WHEAT GLUTEN PRODUCTS Dogs react to these foods like a human with cyliac (spelling) would... its hard for them to tolerate as in the wild you dont see a dog running in a field of wheat and corn and chowing down.. A dog needs MEAT MEAT MEAT

2) some people like raw,,,, I DONT. try to find NATURE'S VARIETY... it is wheat and gluten free and is all meat, some veggies (liek peas and sometimes brown rice) These type sof food are very tolerable on a dog and VERY GOOD for them... if you cannot find Nature's variety try WELLNESS another gluten free type...

3) don't give your dog table scraps. not only does it teach them to beg, but excess sugars (like bbq sauce), and other bad foods (fried) can be tormental on a tiny tummy...

My dog eats once a day. he eats venison, rabbit, or fish meal from nature's variety. i give him a can of food and 2 scoops of dry venison meal..

MEAL IS ALWAYS BETTER cus it means its the actual MEAT... not processed etc.

Carrots are high in sugar, although a tasty treat then can leave the urine dark and can cause UTI etc...
